Our journey began in Kudla.
The small coastal city of Mangaluru in South India, locally known as Kudla, is loved for its bold, distinctive flavours — fiery ghee roast, crisp kori roti, and spice blends passed down through generations. It’s a food culture built on fresh coconuts, coastal spices and time-honoured techniques, deeply familiar to anyone with Mangalorean roots.
Seeing a gap in the New Zealand market for these authentic regional specialities — and family ties to food distribution going back over 50 years — led to the formation of Kudla Foods.
